Shrimath Yoga Nidra is not just a Course

A difficult truth about modern wellness education.
Today, people are collecting certifications faster than they are cultivating experience.
Especially in the world of Yoga.
A weekend course.
A downloaded script.
A certificate.
And suddenly… someone is ready to teach transformation.
But here is the uncomfortable question…
Can we authentically guide others into states of consciousness we have never deeply experienced ourselves?
In mid-2010s, a practitioner from the United States came to India to study Shrimath Yoga Nidra.
And after the experience, Harriett Nettles wrote something that stayed with Team Shrimath.
“We can only lead people to states that we have experienced ourselves. Simply reading the script for a session is not enough.”

Read that again.
Simply reading the script is not enough.
This is perhaps what modern education has forgotten.
Knowledge transfer is not the same as transformation.
For thousands of years, Indic wisdom traditions understood this deeply.
That is why learning was never designed as content consumption… it was designed as living transmission.
The Gurukul was never merely a place to learn techniques…
it was a space where the student / learner observed…
How the teacher lived.
How the teacher embodied the practice.
How silence itself became instruction.
Another reflection from this testimonial moved us at Shrimath Yoga deeply.
“The benefits of the individual attention from a master were incredible… To have long, searching conversations with someone focused on my specific needs was remarkably transformative.”
In an age obsessed with scale…
Perhaps we need to ask:
Are we creating more teachers… or merely producing more certified instructors?
At Shrimath Yoga Nidra, we continue to honour a simple truth.
You cannot teach stillness by memorising words.
You can only teach stillness after learning to live it.
Traditions survive not through information, they survive through lived experience passed from one sincere practitioner to another.
And that, perhaps, is what true Yoga education has always been about.
