Ashram Learning
Founded in 2011 by Smrithi Krishna and Krishna Prakash, Shrimath embodies the essence of traditional ashram learning. Both founders, who have been practising and learning from living traditions since 1990, hold Master's degrees in Yoga.
They have integrated their extensive knowledge into a curriculum that emphasizes the authentic teachings of Yoga, inspired by traditions with over 2500 years of history.
This approach allows students to delve deeply into the spiritual and practical aspects of Yoga, transforming their learning experience into a holistic journey of self-discovery.

Who we are

Global Reach
Shrimath's appeal transcends borders, attracting students from 44 countries worldwide. Countries like Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Cambodia, and many others have sent learners to this unique institution.
This global diversity enriches the learning environment, bringing together a multitude of perspectives and fostering a vibrant, inclusive community dedicated to the pursuit of Yoga and spiritual wisdom.
The experience is further enriched by the consistent emphasis on home-cooked meals, which play a crucial role in fostering a sense of community among the international learners. This practice helps create a homely atmosphere, allowing students from around the world to feel connected and supported during their transformative journey at Shrimath.
Simple Living
Shrimath champions the philosophy of simple living, providing an environment that emphasizes minimalism and mindfulness. Students are encouraged to engage in daily activities such as working with rural schools, assisting in farms and kitchens, and contributing to the upkeep of the facility.
This hands-on approach teaches the value of simplicity and the importance of contributing to the community, helping students cultivate a balanced and mindful lifestyle.
This simplicity and practical engagement extend to their daily meals, where the practice of preparing and sharing home-cooked food reinforces the values of community and mindfulness.

Our Story
In early 2011, we saw a growing need for personalized Yoga and spiritual education. Traditional Ashrams and Universities offered authentic teachings, but their large batch sizes lacked the personal touch.
Thus, Shrimath was born, with a clear vision: to provide an experience akin to a traditional Gurukul, where small batch sizes, home-cooked food, and simple living foster deeper learning.
Our unique approach transforms learners into seekers, teaching them that life's challenges should not hinder their journey towards self-realization.
Our Unique Approach
A standout feature at Shrimath is our policy allowing participants to repeat their teacher training courses for free. In Indic Knowledge Systems, repetition reinforces learning. We reserve two seats in each batch for alumni, ensuring ongoing growth.
Rooted in living traditions, we extend Yoga beyond the classroom, incorporating activities like working with rural schools, assisting in farms and kitchens, and maintaining the facility. This holistic approach ensures that Yoga is practical, not just theoretical.
