Kāma (desire) is not the problem
What makes me say so? the following 3!
First in 1997, and next in 2004, this verse Dhyāyato viṣayān pumsah...was dealt in detail by Master Shankar Ji.
In 1990, got qualified to do a Japa that's done only one day of the year - last year was the 36th year ie 3 cycles of 12 years each.
Since 2011, the practices - Shrimath Yoga Nidra & Antar Mouna are inseparable from our identity in the Yoga world.
Have been writing a book on this journey with Käma, and have been vocal about Käma at our sessions at Shrimath Yoga'.
Now, the journey has spanned 12 chapters, addressing one question - how to travel "from desire to freedom."

The approach is: 'what if' Käma is not the problem?
We are often taught to control desire, 'what if' the deeper question is - "Can desire be understood, channelled & finally transformed?"
Kāma is not merely about pleasure, as it can be aspiration, creativity, or the fuel behind our dreams, goals & achievements.
Yet without Dharma, the same Kāma can become attachment, and who better than Krishna to show us what can follow, if we fail to uphold Dharma…
He does that through: Dhyāyato viṣayān pumsah....
Attention attachment
Desire
Anger
delusion.
Then... should Kāma be suppressed? No.
Should it be blindly indulged? No.
Then what? Simple...
Understand it; filter it through Dharma.
Channel it, then witness it.
And eventually ask the most important question - "Is my Kāma taking me towards freedom or away from it?"
This journey has unfolded in a way that it takes us from the Purusharthas to the Shrimath Bhagavad Gītā, from Shrimath Yoga Nidra to Antar Mouna, from Sākṣī Bhāva to Śruti and Vedānta.
And finally to a provocative possibility - The highest Kāma may be Kāma for Moksa (the desire for freedom itself).
12 chapters. One question. One journey - from desire to freedom.
Welcome to explore...
KĀMA Understanding Desire. Discovering Freedom.

PS: An invitation... today after your prayers, ask yourself, "what if the desire i have been trying to control is actually trying to show me the way home?”
